Crystal Spilsbury at CK QLS is recruiting for a Head of Medical Affairs to join a company in the pharmaceutical industry at their site based in Geneva on a six month contract basis.

Our client is a global pharmaceutical company with a portfolio focused on Cardiovascular and anti-infective drugs. This role is based at our client's site in Geneva.

The main purpose of the role will be to:

  • Actively support the launch of new products acquired by the company
  • Contribute to the design of clinical studies for the development of our products
  • Continuing and extending effective relationships with the relevant regional and local KOLs in cardiology, and translating these networks into a strong presence with Regulatory and Health Assessment authorities
  • Lead team of scientific managers and Medical personnel across Europe
  • Effective collaboration within the executive team, and with adjacent functions in Canada and Switzerland, as well as with external partners and local counterparts in key markets
  • Form appropriate linkages internally creating and leading cross functional teams to assess current life cycle management strategies and identify areas for further development and/or unmet medical need
  • Provide scientific leadership and direction for clinical trial strategies to advance knowledge of the Company’s marketed products by collaborating with project teams, therapeutic area(s), other departments and regions to optimize strategic development for Phase IV and Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs)
  • Together with medical, regulatory affairs and clinical development, participate in establishing procedures for development, review and approval of Phase IV and IIT initiatives. Oversee progress of strategic plan implementation, providing operational and clinical support, and proactively identify/address any issues for these initiatives. Provide oversight through tracking of all related cardiovascular studies globally
  • Provide strong scientific presence to key opinion leaders. Present research and the Company’s scientific position regarding its cardiovascular products at key medical meetings. Interact regularly with key physicians at academic medical centers and evaluate new initiatives based on discussion• In cooperation with the commercial department, design and implement meaningful and informative medical education events
  • Lead a team of direct reports that include scientific affairs managers, medical information manager, pharmacovigilance manager and administrative support
  • Maintain strict adherence to corporate and department standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to compliance requirements. As a lead, or team member, develop, approve and work to implement relevant SOPs. Model these behaviors at all times
  • Give input to the development and use of new digital media
  • Provide support to field-based medical affairs teams in all regions and assist in training and development of personnel. As needed, support other initiatives pertaining to therapeutic area such as development or reimbursement advice, or technical support of the review of Business Development opportunities
  • Plan and implement publication plans

  • Medical degree or PhD.

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry experience in medical affairs or other relevant discipline. Expertise in the field of cardiovascular disease
  • Senior leadership experience; credible as a ‘thought leader’ and ableto inspire others, creating a dynamic environment that fosters innovation
