Global Strategic Manager
CK QLS are recruiting on behalf of a leading global healthcare company for an experienced Senior Global Strategic Manager (SGSM) based in Allschwil, Switzerland.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to take on a strategic leadership role within global clinical operations. The successful candidate will oversee strategic sourcing, vendor management, and governance activities that support the delivery of global clinical studies (Phases 1–4). You will act as a trusted sourcing expert, collaborating across multiple functions to drive operational excellence, ensure compliance, and optimise cost effectiveness in outsourced partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic sourcing subject matter expert to study teams and senior stakeholders.
- Lead vendor selection, contract negotiation, and budget management for outsourced clinical services.
- Develop and maintain cost forecasts and financial projections for global clinical programs.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to vendor performance, timelines, and quality.
- Ensure sourcing activities comply with ethical, legal, and corporate standards.
- Lead and mentor sourcing managers, deputising for senior sourcing leadership when required.
- Participate in and oversee vendor governance committees to ensure alignment and accountability.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years’ experience in strategic clinical sourcing or vendor management within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO industry.
- Proven record as the lead sourcing professional for multiple late-phase (Phase 3–4) clinical studies.
- Strong experience in third-party selection, negotiation, and contract execution (including MSAs and Service Agreements).
- In-depth understanding of the clinical development process and operational cost models.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent English communication skills and ability to work in a global, multicultural environment.
- Experience in mentoring, leadership, or governance roles is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
- Strong analytical, financial, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal abilities.
- Capable of managing multiple complex projects under pressure.
- Results-driven, adaptable, and collaborative with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
